This is the image for the news article titled 4th Grade Builds LonghousesThe students in Mrs. Skelly’s and Mrs. Roger's classes participated in a project to construct longhouse models that the Iroquois Indians would have built and used as a shelter for their people.

Learning about Iroquois Indians and New York State History is a part of the 4th grade Social Studies curriculum. The assignment instructed students to use only the natural materials that the Native Americans would have used to make their replicas.
Some of the materials used were tree bark, stones, twigs, ferns, moss and pine needles.

Tables were set up in the main hallway to display their creations and marvel at the ingenuity and talent that went into the construction.
