Our Animal Science class brought the farm to the classroom this past week in an effort to learn through real life experience. This lesson was particularly valuable, as many of our students plan to be future farmers and animal owners.

Students dissected chicken eggs as an introduction to the reproductive tract of female livestock. They explored how the reproductive system functions, why females are spayed and the purpose of reproduction in producing the animal products we enjoy.

Exploring and understanding the reproductive differences between hens and mammals gave insight into how food makes it to our plates.

Students used flashlights to candle the eggs and identify air cells and begin the dissection.
