Jack Thrasher and Brady Nichols have been chosen to represent Salem Central at the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar on June 1st – June 3rd, 2018, at the State University of Oneonta in Oneonta, New York.  The Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar gathers high school sophomore student leaders with groups of distinguished leaders in business, government, and education to discuss present and future issues.  America’s incentive system and the democratic system will also be explored.

This year’s program is sponsored by the Salem Area Women's Club and the Salem PTA.

Thrasher and Nichols' leadership skills were highlighted by an extensive list of community service activities. “One of the hardest demands for me to meet is setting a good example for everyone,” stated Thrasher on his application for the seminar.  “Sometimes I just want to cut back and joke around but I always try to take account of where I am and how I am acting.” said Thrasher.

“I’m proud of my choices.  They may not always be the popular choices but I know they are appropriate and I hope my role as a respected role model/leader will positively influence my peers,” said Nichols. Salem Central is pleased to be represented by both of these fine students.

Jack Thrasher is the son of John Thrasher and Susan Ceglowski of West Pawlet, VT  Brady Nichols is the son of Krista Sullivan and Bob Sullivan of Salem, NY and Ben Nichols of Corinth, NY.
