Senior Citizen Banquet

 

On Thursday, May 20th, Salem Central School’s Community Service Program sponsored a dinner for the senior citizens of the Salem area.  The banquet, which was held in the cafeteria at Salem Washington Academy, was attended by approximately thirty community members from the Salem and Rupert area.  The servers were Salem Central School students JayDean, Austin, Brittany, Haylee, Derrick, Kortney, Anosha, Melissa, Kaitlyn, Jessica, Willie, Erin, Jannelle, Makayla and Tracy.  Both Community Service students and the community members enjoyed this fun-filled evening.  The event was coordinated by Ms. Pat Mullen and Mrs. Colleen Fish.  Thank you to all who made this dinner such a wonderful event.

Salem Santa Shopping

 

 

 

 

 

The Salem Santa Project is an anonymous community effort supported by numerous community organizations: Operation Santa with headquarters in Hudson Falls, Service Learning at Salem-Washington Academy, The Books N’ Hand organization with Lori Stokem and Karen Fronhofer, The Salem Area Women’s Club, PTA of Salem-Washington Academy, the Elks Club, Holy Cross Church, Methodist Church, A&J Agway, Salem Washington Academy staff and the Sullivan family who each contribute something whether it be food baskets, clothing, books or toys.  Elementary classroom teachers nominate recipients and their family.

On Monday, November 30th after school Heather Ferris, Makayla Barton, Ashley Hunt, Jackie Scanlon, Sage Gregg, Willie Linendoll, Jillian Borntraeger, Austin Evans, Lillian Borntraeger, Jilianne DeMarco, Haylee Manktelow, Marisa Fleming, Rebecca Keys, Mackenzie Dumas, Dana Linendoll, Brianna Morris, Darian Jones, Jannelle Miller, Aleisha LeClair, Amber Johnson, and Missy Waters spent a few hours shopping for needy Salem children.  Salem-Washington Academy is privileged to have a program, which promotes community involvement by students. 

Anyone wishing to donate to the Salem Santa Project may do so through a contribution to the Salem PTA, Salem Santa Project Fund.
