Academic Intervention Services
What is AIS? AIS Stands for Academic Intervention Services. AIS is instruction that is supplemental to the general curriculum instruction to help student achieve standards. AIS services may also include support with attendance, guidance, or counseling to improve a student’s academic performance.
Who is eligible to receive AIS services?
· In Grades K-3, students who lack reading readiness skills or are at risk of not achieving state designated performance level in ELA and/or Math.
· In Grades 4-8 students are eligible if they score below the designated performance level on either of the state assessments in ELA, Math, Social Studies, or Science, or are at risk of not meeting state standards in those areas.
· In Grades 9-12, students are eligible based on 7-8 test scores or if they score below the designated performance level on any exam required for graduation.
Must School Districts provide AIS services to eligible students? Yes, schools are required to provide AIS services to students who are at risk of not achieving the learning standards in English Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and/or Science.
