Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run is a nationally acclaimed after-school program for 3rd-5th graders, which uses the power of running, to help prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. Through interactive activities such as running, playing games and discussing important issues, participants learn how to celebrate being girls! Girls meet twice a week, during the 12 week Spring session, which is coached by trained GOTR head coaches: Kellaine Butz, Stacy Riche, Karen Lynch and Katy Cummings. Coaches teach specific life lessons such as dealing with body image and the media, resisting peer pressure, making healthy decisions and contributing to the community.
Emphasis is placed on learning how to live a positive, healthy lifestyle while achieving personal running goals and having fun! At the end of the 12 week program, the girls run in a 5K at Glens Falls Hospital, with a running buddy. This program has been made possible through a grant secured by Glens Falls Hospital Girls on the Run. The Director of this program is Jodi Brynes. Coach liaison is Gretchen Versace. Special thanks to Sue Neil for all of her help with photography & PR!
