	Third Grade
February With the month of February comes: report cards, groundhogs, Presidents’ birthdays and Valentines. In Language Arts we are working on contractions and possessives. We are also looking at “vowel, consonant, silent-e” phonics patterns. Lastly we are telling the difference between short-o and Long-o sounds. In Math we are working on patterns. Next we will be counting by 5’s and 10’s. Please continue practicing you multiplication facts with your child every night. In Social Studies we are working on winter Holidays: Groundhog’s day, Chinese New Year, Presidents Day and Valentine’s Day. We will also be talking about writing a report on a president. In Science we will be working on make our own instruments as we study sound! If you have any recyclables to make the instruments feel free to send them in with your children. Do you hear what I hear? I hear kids learning!!!! Recess We do try to go out daily, unless it gets too cold. Please have your child dress WARMLY! Hats, boots, mittens, and snow pants are recommended so they can go out and get some fresh air.
