Text Box:     WHAT IS HEALTH RELATED PHYSICAL FITNESS?
Health related physical fitness is comprised of 5 components:  cardiovascular fitness (cardio-respiratory endurance), strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition.
Cardiovascular fitness (cardio-respiratory endurance) is the ability to exercise your entire body for long periods of time.  This requires a strong heart, healthy lungs, and clear blood vessels.
Strength is the amount of force your muscles can exert (maximum effort).
Muscular endurance is the ability to use your muscles many times without tiring .
Flexibility is the ability to use your joints through a wide range of motion.  People with good flexibility have fewer sore and injured muscles.
Body fatness (body composition) is the percentage of body weight that is made up of fat when compared to other tissue, such as bone and muscle.

In 2007...there were 698 bicycle related fatalities..106 of them were children under the age of 16.
Non-helmeted riders are 14 times more likely to be in a fatal crash than helmeted riders.
Children ages 10-14 are at the greatest risk for traumatic brain injury due to a bicycle related crash
Children 14 and under are 5 times more likely to be involved in a bicycle related crash.
