Readings – English III Honors – 2011 - 2012

English III focuses on American literature; this is the basic outline.  Literary works not listed here will be included to both augment the American history connection to literature and to enhance the study of literary forms - such as sermons, essays, the sonnet, and narrative poem - and to incorporate multicultural literature.

The research paper, (which is subject to change), is typically on a controversial topic.  Students research the pros and cons of a selected topic, present them objectively, and include their personal opinion on the topic.  The opinion must be supported with a variety of research-based information.

Projects will be on-going and, in many cases, student-generated to showcase specific interests and talents and how they can be applied to enhance the appreciation of literature.
