What's Happening

Weight/Cardio Room

We have completed our Pickleball unit, finishing up with a singles and a doubles tournament. We will be starting a unit in Badminton once the midterm exams are over.

Everyone plays badminton in the back yard with their younger siblings, or with mom and dad, but in our unit we teach more aggressive play. We teach 2 different serves which are dependent on where the opposition is standing. We teach the drop shot, the smash, the dink and the overhead clear. Not only do we teach them how to do it but also the best times to use them in a game. So….. watch out this summer if your son or daughter challenges you to a game of badminton!!!

We will continue with our stretching exercises, our core workout and we are now up to doing 16 pushups each class. The jump ropes are a big hit and we will be jumping well over 100 times before class begins!!

We now have a weight room and a separate cardio room. The cardio room has 3 exercise bicycles, a treadmill, and a cross country ski machine. All classes will be using the 2 rooms, my smaller classes will use them more often.

With a new semester beginning, and realizing that some of our students are weaker in their upper body, I will start a lifting program that should only take about 3 min. each day. The students will be using dumbbells and will be split into 3 groups. One group will be playing badminton, one group will be lifting and one group will be resting. Hopefully it will all go as planned!!!

All students have been assigned a lock and locker in the locker rooms. We encourage them to keep them locked at all times and not to share their combinations with other students.
