Hello from Room 219,

        As we start the third marking period there are several changes.  The afterschool homework time in my classroom is going to be based on need for extra help. Therefore, if your child would like to stay to complete homework , the  Afterschool Heroes  program is open to any student to attend.

   In math fraction action is occurring! There are notes or recipes given to cover each topic and these can be found in the back of the homework binder. The students MUST use these to help. If after reviewing the notes and examples they still are having difficulty they are welcome to stay .

Please note that the weekly quiz format is now including word problems. Many of these examples are taken from past State tests and reflect the problems which they should be able to do. We continue to revisit topics to practice, practice, practice!!!!!!!

    On Monday, Mrs. McLenithan will visit to jumpstart the reading program. If a student reads and records home reading up to 6 hours they are entitled to a pass to the Great Escape this summer.

 

       

 

  

 

                     

  

   

PROBLEM SETS will be given out every Thursday. They are due the following THURSDAY with no exceptions unless there is an illness. The children are given plenty of time and opportunities to have you or myself assist them and as always they may turn them in many times before Thursday to have them checked.

Why do they have problem sets?    Many problems have been actually taken from previous State Math exams so they provide chances for the students to practice problem solving and become familiar with the type of questions they will see in the spring.
