Ceramics - Mrs. Frisbee

Art from the depths of the earth...

Sketchbooks

Ceramics is a half-credit course for students who have successfully completed Studio in Art. It’s a course that encourages serious art students to switch gears and think and create in 3D.

We’ll be making pottery and sculpture.

This, below, is not me, although my hair is getting lighter all the time.

It is also not our studio.

As opposed to weekly sketchbook assignments like you had in Studio Art, in Ceramics, it is expected that you will find some time every other week to sketch from our list of sketch assignments. Sketch assignments relate to the various Principles of Design.

If you can incorporate a ceramic piece into that sketch, more the power to you, but it’s not necessary.

Of course, it is a good idea to use your sketchbook more often than once every two weeks, and I encourage you to sketch from life, sketch from your imagination, and to sketch regularly!

The classroom has a collection of Ceramics Monthly magazines to inspire you, in your ceramic art and your sketches. Please make use of them!
