Welcome, 4TH Quarter Sculptors!

About those sketch assignments…

Ceramics.

In the past two weeks, 8th grade artists have made pinch pots and coiled pots, and a beautiful embellished mug. Our works are glazed with lead-free glazes and are safe for eating and drinking. I would advise hand washing, though. Earthenware (what we are using) is not as durable as stoneware (which is probably what you eat off of on a regular basis, and is fired to a higher temperature than earthenware.

Sketch assignments are due every Monday (except when otherwise noted) throughout the ten week course. They can be in an actual sketchbook, or on a sheet of white paper, obtainable in the classroom. Sketched are graded and they count as 25% of your course grade.

MC900441908[1]In order to get as high a grade as possible on your sketch:

Do the assignment (in pencil!) and hand it in on time; take your time, make it a FINISHED drawing; show good line work and shading (have light and dark parts) and make your sketch fill the page, not float around in the middle of whiteness.
