Salem’s 1st Bike Drive

 Students have collected used bikes to be repaired and given to students that need a bike. The Bikes are all repaired and the distribution process is under way. Thank you to all of the community members, PTA and school faculty that donated bikes, money, tools, and time to this great cause. We currently have 18 bikes ranging from 12.5” BMX up to 24” mountain bikes. The parent pick up is date is Monday June 14th from 2:30 – 4:00 at the bus garage. Free helmets are available to those that qualify. Summer is here and it is time for Salem kids to “Get Out and Ride”!!!!

Bike Drive

Students organized, collected, fixed and donated used bikes to Salem students that needed a bike for this summer. Great project and even greater results.

Passive solar House model 

Students are learning about passive solar house design. They are drawing a floor plan that demonstrates passive solar principles. Student will then build a scaled model of a passive solar house using foam board, acrylic, and other materials. Students designed, built, and tested a passive solar house model. The houses varied in design, but all heated up quickly in the sunshine.

SOLAR RACE CAR

Students designed, built and tested a solar electric model car. It was not easy picking a “sunny” day to race them, but we finally did.  

Electric Gear lift

 

Students designed, built, and tested an electric lifting device. The principles of mechanical advantage, gears and pulleys, electric motors and electric circuits were discussed and demonstrated.
