Lamp Click to view tech8 lamp
slideshow from 2010 Students are designing and
creating a wooden lamp as their first project this year. They will draw a
plan for their lamp design using Google Sketch up. After their plan is
complete they will be learning about the safe and proper use of power tools
and creating their design. Students are learning a new application this year.
Google Sketch up 8.0 is a free download program that allows users to create 3
dimensional models. This simple CAD program will be used to draw project
ideas. To download at home go to Google sketch 8.0 download and click on the
free download button at bottom right. Here’s
the web address:

designing, constructing, and testing an air compressed race car. The real
world application of constraints and specifications are demonstrated and used
throughout this project. The fastest designed cars from each section of tech
8 will then race to determine the fastest car in the whole eight grade class. Hydraulics Students will be working in engineering teams to
create a solution to a problem solving project using syringes, dowels and
wood. They must pick up and move small wooden blocks over a 3 ½”
wall. This is not as easy as it sounds…. Click the link below to see
student projects in action. Watch a video clip of last year’s competition
by clicking on the link below FINAL TECH PROJECT Students will complete
their final Salem technology project. This project is student designed,
built, and evaluated. Students are applying all of the design concepts and
material processing concepts they have learned throughout Tech 7 & 8. The
Student’s 4th quarter grade will be mainly based on the
design, construction, and testing of this final project.
