AP Language Class Produces Winning Public Service Announcement

Students in Mrs. Anna Courtney’s AP Language class already have a lot to celebrate this new year. The public service announcement (PSA) they created to discourage distracted driving was selected as the winning submission in a contest held by the Council For Prevention. The winning PSA was selected amongst many entered by students in Washington and Warren County.

The entire class collaborated to identify a purpose and then brainstormed to effectively persuade the targeted audience, which is primarily young drivers. The students then broke into two groups to each write a portion of the PSA. Every student contributed ideas, and the final product includes input and talent  from the entire AP Language class comprised of Jadrian Choudhury, Ava Dupuis, Molly Erbe, Isabella Garrison, David Gilles, Taryn Gillis, Joshua Harrington, Ethan Hickland, Evan Hunter, Rye Keith, Uta Nagai, Sierra Phillips, and Daisha Quackenbush. The speaking parts are credited to Uta Nagai, Jadrain Choudhury, Ava Dupuis, and Joshua Harrington. Uta Nagai also directed, recorded, and mixed the project.

The PSA will be aired on Adirondack Broadcasting's stations, which are 101.7 The Point; 100.3 Froggy; and Q101.7.
