Message from the Superintendent

Dear Parents, Guardians and Community Members,
This afternoon the district was notified by the Washington County Health Department that an individual in the Salem Elementary School tested positive for COVID-19. The individual who tested positive was last in the school building on Thursday, December 3, 2020, and tested positive on Saturday, December 12, 2020.
The individual is now in quarantine into the holiday recess,, and will have to be cleared by the Washington County Department of Health before returning to school. Please note that the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.
Since our elementary students were learning remotely throughout last week, contact tracing is not necessary in this case. There is no impact on the current academic programming at either the elementary or jr./sr. high schools. We will continue classes tomorrow for gold students as scheduled.
The district has been following all the proper protocols for daily temperature checks, physical distancing, mask wearing, and hand washing, but as an added measure of precaution, please monitor your child(ren) for any symptoms of COVID, which can be found on the CDC website.
