Message from the Superintendent - Two New Positive Cases
January 10, 2021
Dear Parents, Guardians and Community Members,
This weekend the district was notified by the Washington County Health Department that two individuals in the Salem Elementary School tested positive for COVID-19. The individuals who tested positive were last in the school building on Tuesday, January 5, 2021. Please note that the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.
The district is assisting the Washington County Department of Health with contact tracing, and the families of those who had contact with the positive individual have been notified. These new positives have a minor impact on the current learning plan. Only one elementary classroom will be fully remote next week and the families of students in the impacted class have been made aware. The remainder of the elementary and high school will attend school on its regular, hybrid schedule.
The district has been following all the proper protocols for daily temperature checks, physical distancing, mask wearing, and hand washing, but as an added measure of precaution, please monitor your child(ren) for any symptoms of COVID,which can be found on the CDC website.
If you would like information about testing procedures, please call Washington County Public Health at (518) 747-7520.
Sincerely, David J. Glover, Ed. D. Superintendent of Schools
Salem Central School District 41 East Broadway, Salem, NY 12865
