Earlier this afternoon the Supreme Court of the State of New York, Appellate Division, Second Department heard a preliminary hearing on the appeal of the Nassau County Supreme Court decision regarding the Department of Health masking mandate. This evening, Judge Miller granted the application for appeal by the Department of Health and the Governor's Office through Friday, January 28th in order to permit the parties an additional opportunity for presentation. As a result, all New York State schools remain subject to the Department of Health masking regulation through the proceedings on January 28th and the subsequent determination.
The district will continue to monitor any and all proceedings and work to keep you as informed as possible.
The district realizes that last night and today was a confusing and frustrating time for our families, and I want you to know that we share those feelings with you. We continue to appreciate your patience and support as we work through this challenging time together.
