District Announces Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Seminar Ambassador

The district announces sophomore Ethan Hickland has been selected to represent Salem at the Hugh O’Brien Youth (H.O.B.Y.) Leadership Seminar to be held at SUNY New Paltz in June. The purpose of this seminar is to bring a select group of high school sophomores together who have demonstrated leadership abilities within their school and community. Seminar ambassadors will meet with groups of distinguished leaders in business, government, and education to discuss present and future issues. This opportunity is made possible through sponsorship of the Salem Area Women's Club.

 

Ethan volunteers at the Bancroft Public Library and local churches. He is an active FFA member, where he has helped at the FFA Farmland building at the Washington County Fair. He has also helped with the community clean-up and planting gardens. In addition to volunteering his time, Ethan plays multiple sports while maintaining excellent academic grades.Ethan is the son of Karen and John Hickland.

 

The H.O.B.Y. Foundation was established to give outstanding sophomores the opportunity to interact with recognized leaders in business, government, science, art, and education through workshops designed to develop and stimulate young people's leadership abilities.
