Message from Elementary Principal Karen Jones
Dear Parents & Guardians,
I hope your child(ren) had an enjoyable and successful first few days of school. It was wonderful welcoming them, seeing their smiling faces, and I am enjoying meeting them.
The first few days of school can be an adjustment for our youngest students (and their parents/guardians). During this first week of school we have supported parents and guardians walking their child(ren) to their classrooms to help alleviate the stress of finding their new classroom. By the following week, our students will have become familiar with their room, teachers, aides, and other friendly faces.
The safety of our students, faculty, and staff is of the utmost importance. To ensure this is upheld, beginning Monday, September 12, students are expected to enter the building and make their way to their classroom without assistance from parents or guardians. The less opening of doors and foot traffic we have throughout the building, the greater reduction of the risk of unauthorized individuals in the building.
If a parent or guardian would like to speak with their child’s teacher, we ask that an appointment is scheduled. This will ensure the teacher is available and the appropriate amount of time and attention is given to the parents or guardian’s questions or concerns. All visitors are required to sign in at the office.
We appreciate your support in being a part of helping to keep our school safe. I hope you will be able to attend our information night on Thursday, September 15. This evening is for parents and guardians only, and we will have two sessions, a 6:30 p.m. to 7:10 p.m. session, and a 7:20 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. session to allow parents to visit more than one classroom. More information will be shared soon.
