Message from Superintendent Adams

Dear SWA Parents and guardians,

I am writing to inform you that late last evening, the district received information about an alleged threat that was made against another student. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office was contacted and an investigation began immediately.

At this time, the Sheriff’s Office determined that there is no credible threat to the school community. Due to the timing and need for further investigation, there was an increased police presence on and around campus at arrival and throughout the day.

Please remind your child(ren) that there is never a time when comments or jokes about violent acts at school or harming others are appropriate. These are very serious offenses and will be met with disciplinary action in accordance with our Code of Conduct. The health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff is our utmost priority and every threat will be thoroughly investigated in partnership with law enforcement. If an investigation determines that a criminal act has occurred, charges will be filed against the offender.

Remember, if you see or hear something that may pose a threat or safety concern, please contact a school administrator immediately. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Switzer or me.

Sincerely,

Julie A. Adams
