Graduation Plans Announced

June 11, 2020

Dear Salem Jr/Sr High School Students and Families,

As the year comes to a close, I want to provide you with some updates and reminders.

  • The last day of school is Thursday, June 18, 2020.
  • Both the meal delivery and daycare programs will end on Wednesday, June 17, 2020.
  • Report cards for grades 7-12 will be distributed by US Mail during the week of June 29.

Chromebooks

If you were loaned a Chromebook and have not returned it, please do so as soon as possible.  Chromebooks can be dropped off at a food delivery stop or at school next week from 10:00 - 12:00, Monday, June 15 through Wednesday, June 17.  Please do not leave Chromebooks in the drop off bins.  If you are unable to return the Chromebook by one of these ways, please contact Lori Patrick at lpatrick@salemcsd.org or 518-854-7600.  Please be reminded to return the charging cord as well.

Textbooks

Textbooks and library materials can be returned at a food delivery stop or to the drop off bins in the archway.

Yearbooks

The yearbook company has communicated that it hopes to be able to ship yearbooks by the end of the month.  Once yearbooks have arrived, we will contact students about distribution.

Graduation

The governor recently announced that outdoor graduations of up to 150 people will be permitted beginning June 26. With this in mind, we continue to plan for a graduation ceremony in July.  While there are some school districts who are changing their ceremonies to accommodate the smaller gathering allowance, we are working to honor the collective wish of our students to have an in-person ceremony where everyone can be together. We hope that a late July graduation will allow that to happen. We are sensitive to the planning needs of families and will get an official date out as soon as we can.

I would like to recognize our amazing students who showed strength and perseverance during unprecedented times.  On behalf of our faculty and staff, a special thanks to parents, family, and community members who worked with us to help support our students during the period of remote learning.

Finally, congratulations to our graduates!  We look forward to seeing the rest of our students this Fall including the incoming Class of 2026!.  Until then, enjoy your summer!

Sincerely,

Julie Adams

7-12 Principal
