What To Do If You Or A Family Member Has COVID-19 Symptoms
Someone in your household has a temperature, what should you do?
Since school started, most of the reports about potential COVID cases have come from parents letting us know that someone in their household has a fever and/or went to the doctor and had a PCR COVID-19 test. If this happens in your household, please do the following:
- If your child, or someone in your household, has a fever of 100 or more contact your doctor or urgent care to be seen and get a PCR COVID test.
- If your child, or someone in your household, has symptoms that make you think that it might be COVID-19, contact your doctor or urgent care to be seen and get a PCR COVID test.
- Notify the school of your child’s (or family member’s) illness at one or more of the emails/phone numbers below. All information is kept confidential and only shared with the Department of Health in the event of a positive test result.

Do not send any children in your home to school until we have the test results back from the PCR COVID-19 test or if the doctor is able to give us a note for an alternate diagnosis. The doctor may have you take a rapid test for COVID but the school is requiring the PCR test for returning to school under the direction of our school physician.
A negative test result will allow your child to return to school, as long as he/she is feeling better. A positive test result will require your child to stay out of school for at least 10 days and the end of your child’s signs/symptoms. Your family doctor and the Department of Health will give us the directions to follow. We will ask you to send in the test results for any student to the school for our records.
We appreciate everyone’s understanding of this process. By being cautious, we hope to keep everyone healthy and keep the school open. Please remember that these procedures are subject to change. When they change, we will let you know of the new procedure. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
When school is not in session, please help us keep our school open by:
- Avoiding settings with large groups
- Maintaining social distancing
- Wearing a mask or face covering in public places
- Wash your hands often
