Salem High School has been ranked the #2 best high school in the Glens Falls area by U.S. News & World Report in its 2025-26 Best High School Rankings.

According to the review, Salem’s high ranking is attributed to its strong Advanced Placement (AP) participation rate, with 51% of students taking at least one AP course, and exceptionally small class sizes, with an eight-to-one student-to-staff ratio. Additionally, 97% of students demonstrated proficiency in mathematics, and 91% achieved proficiency in science.

Salem’s distinctive Agricultural program and its award-winning Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter also contributed to the school’s recognition. The high school offers students access to Career and Technical Education programs, opportunities to earn college credit, and pathways to achieve the Seal of Civic Readiness.

“We are honored to be recognized as a top high school by the U.S. News & World Report,” said Superintendent Julie Collier. “ At Salem, we strive to provide a challenging academic environment that empowers all students to reach their full potential, while providing meaningful opportunities to help them achieve their goals and dreams. This ranking affirms that we are delivering exceptional experiences for our students.”

The rankings evaluated more than 24,000 public high schools nationwide based on factors such as college readiness, state assessment performance, and graduation rates.
