Salem Central School District invites students, families, community members, and local veterans to join together in honoring those who have served our nation at the district’s annual Veterans Day Assembly on Monday, Nov. 10, in the Salem Washington Academy Gymnasium.
The program will begin at 9 a.m., with coffee and light refreshments offered to veterans from 8-8:45 a.m. as a gesture of appreciation and welcome. Staff will be directing visitors to the entrance for the assembly. Visitors are asked to bring identification when entering the school.
“It is a cherished tradition for our school to honor those who have served our country,” said Julie A. Collier, Superintendent of Salem Central School District. “We are proud to bring students and veterans together to celebrate service, reflect on our shared history, and inspire our students to consider the many paths available to them after graduation.”
The assembly will recognize veterans from all branches of the military and feature performances by Salem’s elementary and high school musicians. A special guest speaker will highlight the program, along with attendance from the Patriot Guard Riders, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts.
