Student-athletes at Salem Central School District continue to shine both in competition and in the classroom. This was especially evident this fall, when every Salem team that competed earned the prestigious New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Fall Scholar-Athlete Team recognition, with many individual athletes also honored for their academic achievements.
To earn Fall Scholar-Athlete Team recognition and receive a NYSPHSAA certificate, at least 75% of a team’s roster must have a combined average GPA of 90 or higher. Salem’s Girls Varsity Soccer team, along with the Salem-Cambridge merged teams, Varsity Field Hockey, Varsity Football, Varsity Golf, and Boys Varsity Soccer, all surpassed this rigorous standard.
Participation in sports not only builds character but also fosters the habits that lead to academic success. In addition to team honors, many student-athletes were individually recognized by NYSPHSAA as Fall Scholar-Athletes.
Salem Central School District proudly congratulates all of our student-athletes who continue to excel while successfully balancing the demands of both academics and athletics.
